95. Water Meters: -There were thirty meters in use at the close of the year compared with twenty-eight in 1936. The number of meters examined and repaired was twenty-seven.

96. Maintenance of Praya Walls and Piers:-The praya walls and piers were maintained in a good condition. Repairs were carried out to Kowloon City Ferry Pier, Lai Chi Kok Water Boat Dock, Shamshuipo Ferry Pier and Kweilin Street Refuse Pier. Two hoists on Shamshuipo Ferry Pier were maintained in good order.

98. Maintenance of Buildings:-Government Buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme were carried out to ten buildings. Major repairs included the following:- Taipo Land Bailiff's Quarters-hot water system installed, Taipo Clerk's Quarters-floors and windows repaired, Taipo School-reconditioned, Taipo Police Bungalow-mosquito screened, Taipo Police Station-channelling repaired, Ping Shan Land Office-mosquito screened.
Repairs due to white-ant damage were carried out to the following:-Taipo Police Station, Sheung Shui Police Station, Sha Tau Kok Police Station.
Electrical installations were maintained in good order.
