56. Roads and Bridges in City (Maintenance and Improvements):-The surfaces of approximately seventy-one miles of roads were generally maintained in a satisfactory manner.

The following figures show the extent of the operations carried out at the Government Quarry, Tsat Tsz Mui. A total quantity of 13,497 cubic yards of various grades of stones were passed through crushers, of which 6,588 cubic yards were made into tar macadam, 4,017 cubic yards into tar-tops, 163 cubic yards into sand carpeting and 2,729 cubic yards were delivered to various works as the materials came from crushers. 2,197 granolithic paving slabs were provided for footways; fifty-three reinforced concrete standards for railings and thirteen wooden notice boards were made.
