Maintenance of Lighthouses:-All Lighthouses were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs were carried out in accordance with the recurring programme to all Lighthouses and Aga Lights. Major repairs included the renewal of jib to large derrick at Gap Rock Lighthouse.

95. Roads and Bridges (Maintenance and Improvements):-The surfaces of approximately eighty miles of roads were maintained in a satisfactory manner.
The following items of work were undertaken and completed by the end of 1934:-
Taipo Road.-Patching road surface between Kowloon Reservoir and Tai Wai, Shatin. Cutting rock, erecting reflecting mirrors and traffic signs at Lok Lo Ha Level Crossing. Tar-painting with chippings Taipo Causeway and Taipo Market Parking Area. Surfacing Taipo-Shun Wan Road to take lorry traffic as far as Taipo Old Market. Patching road surface between Taipo Market and Fanling-Sha Tau Kok Cross Roads. Underpinning foundations of rubble wall at Sun Uk near 18th Mile on the Taipo Market-Fanling Road. Construction of car park at Fanling-Sha Tau Kok Cross Roads adjoining the Hunter's Arms.
