46. Maintenance of Buildings:-Government buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme were carried out to ninety-nine buildings. Major repairs included the following:--Central Police Station-repaired lavatory doors and relaid tiles in corridors, Western Market-renewed timber stalls in concrete and repairs to Bostwick gates. Wanchai Depot-repaired garage roof, Tsat Tze Mui Quarters-mosquito proofed doors and windows, Mounted Infantry Stables-repaired and altered, Ventris Road Quarters-relayed concrete surfacing. Tsat Tze Mui Police Station-renewed concrete surfacing to compound, Junior Technical School-repaired floor of main hall, Kennedy Town Slaughter House-renewed floor to offal room, Ellis Kadoorie School-resurfaced playground, etc., Tsan Yuk Hospital-repaired windows and jalousies, Kennedy Town Hospital-renewed ceilings and resurfaced approach road.
