The hours of supply were restricted during the year as follows:-1st to 24th January, and 28th January to 30th April, 10 hours supply (6-11 A.M. and 4-9 P.M.). 1st May to 30th June, 6 hours supply (6-9 A.M. and 4.30-7.30 P.M.). 26th August to 8th September, 10 hours supply (6-11 A.M. and 4-9 P.M.). 9th to 20th September, 6 hours supply (6-9 A.M. and 4.30-7.30 P.M.). 21st September to 8th November, 8 hours supply (6-10 A.M. and 4-8 P.M.). 9th November to 31st December, 10 hours supply (6-11 A.M. and 4-9 P.M.). From 24th to 27th January (Chinese New Year) and from 1st July to 25th August a constant supply was given. The works were maintained in good condition throughout the year, but a portion of the 3″ main from the Balance Tank to the village had to be diverted on account of the development of R.B.Ls. 239-244 and 252. This work was not completed at the end of the year.
The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 9.08 million gallons, equivalent to an average consumption of 25,000 gallons per diem.
(e) Deep Water Bay R.B.L. 245.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 1.21 million gallons, equivalent to an average daily consumption of 3,300 gallons. The works were maintained in good condition.

57. Water Meters.-The number of meters examined and repaired during the year was 3,067. 27 meters were tested in accordance with Regulation 9 of the Water Works Regulations.
