201. Road from Causeway Bay to Quarry Bay, Section seventy feet wide, opposite M.Ls. 430 & 431.-This work was referred to in paragraph 128 of last year's Report. The work was completed in 1930 with the exception of surfacing which was carried out and completed in 1931.

202. Tai Hang Road construction including strengthening Conduit. This work was referred to in paragraph 124 of last year's Report. The large embankment at picket 23/00 was consolidated by means of watering and rolling and the work of bringing it up to level was completed at the beginning of April.

A Contract amounting to $17,186.00 was let to Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. in March for strengthening the Conduit. Progress during the year was poor. The Contract which comprised the construction of a new Conduit from the Tai Tam Tunnel Outlet to Stubbs Road, a distance of 2,273 feet, had been completed by the end of the year. The Conduit is designed to meet heavy traffic requirements, but as far as practicable it has been constructed, in lighter section, clear of the roadway.

203. Chinese Cemeteries-Laying out new areas.--Work carried out under this head is alluded to in paragraph 333 of this Report.

204. Government Quarry, Tsat Tsz Mui, installation of modern asphalt and screening plants.-A contract for this work was let to Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. Construction was commenced in October, 1930 and completed in March, 1931.

205.Playing fields-preparing areas recommended by Committee.--Playing grounds were levelled, surfaced and fenced at Blake Gardens and Wanchai. These grounds have been equipped and are supervised for games under the auspices of the Rotary Club.

206. Renewing electrical wiring at Government Buildings. -Nineteen buildings were completely rewired for fans and lights: total number of points-two thousand and forty-four. Twenty-two power points in Government Civil Hospital A. B. & C. Blocks and Kowloon Hospital were rewired for use in connection with X-Ray and Violet Ray apparatus.
