194. Market at Praya East Reclamation.-The work consisted of the erection of a one storey (open type) market constructed of reinforced concrete. The Contract for the work was let to Messrs. Lam Construction Co. for a sum of $26,359.50 on 1st October, 1931. Satisfactory progress was made. Excavation of foundations, piling and concreting of columns were completed by the end of the year.

GENERAL WORKS.

195. Roads.-Consequent upon the erection of new buildings, kerbing and channelling operations were executed on twenty roads, etc., the footpaths being paved and any necessary alterations in levels or alignment being affected.

196. Repairs to the hillside above the Peak Garage were also undertaken.

197. Drainage :-(a) Training Nullahs.-The following is the most important nullah work carried out during the year:
