124. Dredging Foreshores. During the year, No. 1 Grab Dredger worked 296 days and was under repairs 29th October to 5th November, and 1st to 31st December (thirty-nine days). The cost of repairs and replacements amounted to $5,758.05. The dredger removed 34,570 cube yards of silt at an all-in cost of sixty-six cents per cube yard, which includes the cost of transporting and depositing the dredged materials but excludes depreciation. The No. 2 Grab Dredger worked 278 days and was under repairs 1st to 5th January, 26th March to 4th April, 15th to 28th October, and 1st to 31st December (sixty days). Of the total of 67,246 cube yards of silt removed during the year, 46,907 cube yards were dredged from the foreshores and in maintaining the depth of water alongside Public Piers, Refuse Boat Piers and within the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter; 16,065 cube yards were dredged in connection with the excavation of trenches for Sea wall foundations at North Point and Jordan Road, the cost of the latter work being charged against Advance Account-Vehicular Ferry: Item (a) Construction of Ferry Piers; the balance of 4,274 cube yards was dredged at K.M.L. No. 85 To Kwa Wan for the Hong Kong China Dock Co., Ltd.-the Co. paid $2,996.48 for this work.

125. Store Depreciation. The adjustment of store values and reconditioning of old stores have been met from this vote, amounting to $16,073.01. The following sums were credited to this vote:- $13,369.16 being rebate on Freight Charges in connection with stores purchased in England through the Crown Agents: $2,635.57 being the value of stores returned which had been issued prior to 1931. The result showed a net expenditure on this vote of $68.28.
