64. The junction of Lai Chi Kok and Nathan Roads was re-planned giving a larger reservation for the future Post Office and Fire Station and improving traffic conditions.

68. Maintenance of Buildings. Government Buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme carried out to hospitals, markets, and latrines, to a total of fifty-one buildings. A considerable amount of white ant damage was repaired, the principal buildings affected being:-

Central Police Station, Government Civil Hospital, Queen's College, Victoria Gaol, Belilios School, Ellis Kadoorie School, Kennedy Town Cattle Depots, Kennedy Town Hospital, Shek Tong Tsui Market, Upper Levels Police Station, Mountain Lodge, Queen's Gardens, Shaukiwan Police Station, Botanical and Forestry Department Offices, and Aberdeen Police Station.

69. Major repairs included the following:

Warders Quarters Arbuthnot Road-reconstruction of all verandahs; Government House-reconstruction of South and West verandahs and strengthening North verandahs; Lysholt-Extensive repairs, alterations and general renovation; Superintendent's Quarters G.
