6. Architectural Office.—One Executive; seven Architects; one Senior Inspector of Works; one Quantity Surveyor; eight Inspectors and Overseers; and one Chief Draughtsman.
This office undertakes the design, preparations of Working Drawings, Specifications and Quantities, and construction of all new Government buildings and quarters: together with improvements and maintenance of all existing Government buildings including hospitals, schools, Police and Fire Stations, and offices, markets, retaining walls, etc., with the connected drainage, plumbing, lighting, and gas and electric heating.
7. Electrical Office.—One Executive; one Engineer; one Senior Inspector of Works; eleven Inspectors, Sub-Engineers, Senior Operators and Overseers.
Central and maintenance of the Wireless Telegraphy and Radio Broadcasting Stations. Government telephones and maintenance of submarine and land telegraph and W./T. Stations for shipping and R.T.O. Broadcasting etc. Advising in regard to rules and regulations for public Electric and Telephone Companies, etc. Installation and maintenance of fans, lights and lifts in Government Buildings, etc.
8. General Works, Roads and Transport Office.—One Executive; eight Engineers; twelve Inspectors and Overseers.
This office deals with the design and construction of bridges, roads, streets and paths, small markets, small bathhouses, latrines, culverts, reclamations and retaining walls. Works in connection with the Air Port, erection of hangar etc. Supervision of bathing sheds and beaches. Maintenance of all public roads and streets and street lighting by electricity and gas. Control of the working and output of Government quarries. Upkeep of lorries and cars, steam and motor rollers, road and quarry plant.
9. Buildings Ordinance Office.—One Executive; five Architects; ten Inspectors and Overseers; one Chief Draughtsman; one Senior Clerk; & one Stenographer.
Examination of and passing of all plans for private building work of every description in connection with the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance and connected ordinances for Hong Kong and Kowloon and outlying districts. Approval for all verandahs, scavenging lanes and wells. Prosecutions and Notices for defective drainage and non-compliance with Public Health & Buildings Ordinance.
