intersection points of streets and corners of lots were fixed on a portion of the Praya East Reclamation which has been reclaimed. This work entailed a very accurate traverse of 11,600 feet and numerous check measurements. The total area set out was 22 acres. Many surveys of a miscellaneous nature were made, such as those required for plans to be attached to deeds of surrender, sale plans, plans for the police in connection with murders or robberies &c. and various plans for departmental use.
8. Cemeteries.-The following cemeteries were surveyed and the boundaries defined on the ground by means of reinforced concrete posts-

9. Ordnance Survey.-The staff of the Survey Office has to a large extent been concentrated on this work. The survey of the whole of the City of Victoria has now been completed and during the year under review 234 acres have been surveyed and 238 acres plotted, the chainage totalling 52 miles. Twelve sheets have been reduced from a scale of 50 feet to one inch to a scale of 200 feet to one inch the total area so reduced being 529 acres.
Considerable revision, made necessary by numerous road improvements, erection of new buildings and reconstruction, is now being carried on and the survey is being extended beyond the boundaries of the City. A number of traverses were run for this purpose in the outlying districts. One traverse with a chainage of 3,350 feet was made from Mount Nicholson via Wong Nei Chong Gap to join up with a main traverse at the junction of Bowen Road and Stubbs Road and from a station in this traverse at Wong Nei Chong Gap a traverse of 9,866 feet was run along the new Repulse Bay Road to a triangulation station below "Overbays" on the Aberdeen-Repulse Bay Road. Mount Gough triangulation station was connected with the Peak triangulation station by a traverse of 8,965 feet and various minor traverses were run in connection with the revision survey of the Peak District.
In Kowloon, during the year, 530 acres were surveyed of which 449 acres were plotted. Traverses were laid down and permanent marks fixed, the total length of the traverse being 60 miles.
