(1). An electrically driven centrifugal pump has been erected below West Point Service Reservoir to pump back the leakage from the Filter Beds. A corrugated iron shed has also been constructed to house the motor and pump.

(2). Owing to the increasing cost of labour, it was decided to obtain a mechanical sand washer. The machine was purchased through the Crown Agents from Messrs. Glenfield & Kennedy and was in use by the end of the year.

(3). Light rails & trucks were purchased second-hand, locally, to facilitate the transportation of sand at the Elliot and Eastern Filter Beds.

By the end of the year a track had been laid at the Elliot Filter Beds and satisfactory results were being obtained.

(6). For many years it has been apparent that the carrying capacity of the Bowen Road Conduit was decreasing owing to the presence of banyan tree roots and silt. A start with the clearing of the Conduit was made and by the end of the year approx. 1 mile of it had been completed.

(7). A new 13" connection was laid to the Stubbs Road Service Reservoir near Wanchai Gap.
