119. Workshop and Garage, Wanchai Depot.-A contract was let to Messrs. Tak Hing & Co. for a sum of $6,336.00 on the 8th June and the work covered by this contract, namely the conversion of three open sheds into garage, workshop and office accommodation, was completed by the end of the year; it was, however, found necessary to carry out extra work and the contract was therefore not closed.

120. Reinstatement of Government Retaining Walls.-The general survey of the retaining walls of the Colony, referred to in paragraph 229 of last year's Report and which was commenced in 1925, was continued throughout the year. This survey consisted of the compilation in book form of data referring to the construction and general condition of the walls.

By the end of the year about 900 walls had been examined, this covering about half of the City of Victoria.

It was considered advisable to reconstruct the wall at the end of D'Aguilar Street, and the necessary plans and surveys were completed by the end of the year.
