The following is a list of the more important extensions and additions carried out during the year:-

A length of—

(a). 2,000 ft. of 12" main was laid in Prince Edward Road, connecting through to Kowloon City.

(b). 2,400 ft. of 18" main was laid along the new alignment of Coronation Road, from Prince Edward Road to Tai Po Road.

(c). 4,300 ft. of 12" main in Shanghai Street, from Waterloo Road to Prince Edward Road, was raised to give suitable covering.

(d). 850 ft. of 4" main was laid in Bowring Street between Nathan Road and Shanghai Street.

(e). 700 ft. of 5" main was laid along an unnamed new road from Kowloon City Road towards the Slaughter House.

(f). 400 ft. of 6" main was laid along the new alignment of Kowloon City Road at Ma Tau Chung.

(g). 1,200 ft. of 5" main was laid along Nelson Street, East of Shanghai Street.

(h). 600 ft. of 5" main was laid along an unnamed road in Ho Man Tin running N.E. from South end of Victory Avenue.

(i). 960 ft. of 24" C.I. pipe was obtained from England to replace the 18" main through the Filter Beds South Tunnel, but has not been laid by the end of the year.

192. Kowloon Filter Beds Extension,-Four New Beds.- This work was referred to in paragraph 190 of last year's Report.

By the end of the year the construction of the Filter Beds was completed, but part of the filtering material still remained to be supplied.

The necessary supply and delivery pipes were provided and laid departmentally.

The beds, each of which has an effective filtering area of 800 sq. yds., are of similar design to the existing ones.
