The quantity of water remaining in the reservoir at the end of the year amounted to 181.56 million gallons. In addition, 83.14 million gallons were collected in the new Shek Lai Pui Reservoir making a total storage of 264.70 million gallons.

The analyses made by the Government Analyst and the examinations made by the Bacteriologist were satisfactory.

The various buildings were kept in a good state of repair during the year.

There were 1,240 meters in use at the close of the year; an increase of 198 as compared with 1924.

House services were constructed, altered or repaired in 396 instances, and 50 supplies were laid on for building purposes.

84. Maintenance of Buildings.—The buildings generally were kept in their usual good state of repair, a number of them being renovated and generally repaired in accordance with the recurring programme.

Owing to the ravages by white ants, very extensive repairs and renewals to many of the Police Station Buildings were found to be necessary. The Stations calling for most attention were Saikung, of which the entire roof had to be renewed; Taipo, Au Tau; and Sheung Shui; as well as the Rest House at Taipo.

The expenditure amounted to $30,267.73.

85. Improvements to Buildings.—The principal improvements carried out under this heading comprised the following:
