LUGARD SCHOLARSHIPS.
RULES.
Whereas Sir Hormusjee Mody, Knight, has founded two scholarships, each of the value of thirty dollars per annum, tenable for two years, at each of the following schools, that is to say, the Diocesan Girls' School, the Ellis Kadoorie School, the French Convent School, St. Francis' School, the Italian Convent School, St. Joseph's College, St. Mary's School, and the Victoria British School, and has by permission named them the Lugard Scholarships.
The following Rules shall with the consent of the Donor regulate the award of these scholarships:
I.
One scholarship shall be awarded annually to the pupil in each of the named schools who shall be adjudged by the Head of the school, subject to the final decision of the Director of Education, to have been most successful under the terms and conditions set forth in these Rules.
II.
The scholarship examination shall take place at Christmas, and shall be the usual school examination; but the marks assigned to each subject shall be so allotted that preponderant importance be given to English subjects.
III.
The scale of marks and the examination papers when marked shall be submitted to the Director of Education for approval by the Head of the school. The decision of the Director of Education shall be final, as to whether a scholarship shall be awarded, and as to which competitor be adjudged to be the winner.
