of 17th December; reports the further measures taken to combat the disease, and states that the Executive Council is not in favour of the appointment of an Inspector-General, or of the immediate introduction of legislation.
Acknowledges the receipt of No. 48; appreciates the work that is being done; hopes that the Colony will reap the benefit of the improved condition in the labouring classes, and leaves it to his discretion whether to appoint an Inspector-General, if and when such an appointment is found possible in other Colonies.
