Considers, in reply to No. 109, that the Army Council have misunderstood the nature of the information the Governor desires, which is details as to expenditure incurred for certain items under the head "Expenditure not ascertainable locally"; asks to be supplied with this information for the last two financial years.

Forwards memorandum by the Colonial Treasurer; regreta error in calculating the contribution for 1904 and 1905, by which it appears that there was an over-payment of 207,046 dollars in those years and asks if the Army Council accept the amended statement; the procedure recommended by them will be adopted in future.

Points out difficulty in ascertaining some of the information included under the heading "Expenditure not ascer- tainable locally" and fears that if the figures were inserted in the Blue Book they would hardly fail to create a false impression; suggests alternative etatement for inclusion in the Blue Book.
