WITH respect to New Brunswick a favour- able account can also be given, though there has never been displayed the same vigour in polítical and industrial pursuits in this as in the adjoining province of Canada. Responsible government prevails here too. It was intro duced in 1849, and has been attended with the usual success.

The income of the province is
