Dear Janés,

26th October 1949

You will remember & discussion that we had with the Director of Education, Hong Kong, in which we considered the possibility that Broadcast Relay Service (Overseas) Ltd. might be ready to wire up schools in Hong Kong to enable them to receive Schools broadcasts. It occurs to me that if you are approaching the Company to this end you might find it useful to remind them that they are very heavily indebted to the B.R.C. for the Transcription service which their rumerous stations receive free of charge. I gather that it would be no exaggeration to say that the Company gets from the B.B.C. in this way every year several thousand pounds' worth of free broadcasting material, for which it would not be unreasonable to expect them to return a quid pro quo in circumstances such as may arise in Hong Kong.

Sous giver.
