Dear Lack,

Here are the extracts, about which we spoke, from letters from the Programme Secretary, Radio Hongkong.

21st July.

25th July.

"I am at present working on a new scheme for Forces broadcasting in the Colony and a Forces Broadcasting Committee has been set up to organise an hour's special Services programme every evening, which will include Forces educational broadcasts, unit news, concerts, plays, quiz programmes, etc. An appeal is also being made by the Service chiefs to the Ministries at home for financial assistance. I wonder if there is any possibility of obtaining more play scripts from the Corporation for this worthy cause? We would,

of course, arrange for copyright clearance if you could provide the scripts. we might even be able to put on a thriller serial or two, if scripts were obtainable and any assistance you can give will be most welcome."

"The Services education authorities here want to know if there is

any possibility of obtaining any special Forces educational broadcasts which have not already been sent to us. They would also welcome any educational programmes, such as the new Adult Education series, which can be provided, when available.

As I mentioned in my letter of 21st July, we are now embarking on quite an ambitious programme for Forces broadcasting",

We are replying to the effect that the requests have been referred to you and that you have undertaken to take the necessary action.

Major S. Lack, A.W.2(b)

The War Office, 60 Eaton Square, LONON, S.W.1.

Yours sincerely,

(sgd) Ivor E. Thomas.
