In answer to a question put by myself, you said you

were opposed to the appointment of a Sanitary

Commissioner, and I would like to know whether you

made any official representation. You said you would

look it up.

I have not been able to find anything.

16.670

If you think you did, we should be glad to have it for

our report. It is rather important.

Then there is

another question I put to you, about the Sanitary Board being made into a Sanitary Department.

I could not tell you quite how that originated, but

16.671

To asked you to bring any papera that you could find;

to show what correspondence or what discussion took

place between yourself and the Government with regard

to the change that was made by Ordinance 23 of 1905.

I give you the C. S. 0. No 2755. (C. 8. D. handed in

as exhibit).

16.672

There was another question, Dr Atkinson, with regard to

a Buropean clerk being attached to the H. 0. H's

office, and you said you would like to look that up.

(quotes from evidence).

I can say that before I went home on leave, there was

▲ European clerk, but shortly after I left, the

European clark's services were dispensed with, so I am

told.
