Amendment,

(3) Whenever a paper has been laid on the Table of the Council, the Member presenting it may. with the permission of the President, address the Council thereon.".

Add the following new paragraph—

"(2) A question shall specify whether an oral or a wrillen reply is required.".

Reasons for amendment.

To provide for written answers to questions.

In the second line delete the word "five" and insert in lieu the To bring notice for questions into line with that word "four". for adjournment debates (5.0. 9(6) ) and motions (8.0. 2001) 1

In the second line after the word "shall" insert the words- "except in the case of a question for which a written answer has been sought'

Add the following as new paragraph (7

"(7) In the case of a question for which a written answer has been sought, a written answer shall be supplied to each Member and shall be printed in the Official Report."

Leave out the existing Standing Order and insert in lies the To avoid the need to signify formally the following
