Reasons for amendment,

In the last line leave out the word "speech" and insert in lieu | Consequent upon amendment to §. 00. 603) and the word "address" 6(4)

Leave out the words after "form;" and insert in lieu “"That Less archaic phraseology, which avoids the need this Council thanks the Governor for his address. to present a formal address.

Leave out the existing paragraph and insert in lieu the following

4(2) Such a motion shall not require nolice and may be moved only between two items of business. It shall be moved by an ex officio Member, save that an Unofficial | Member may move such a motion, with the permission of the President, if the President is satisfied that the adjourn - meat is for the purpose of discussing a speciñc matter of urgent public importance.",

To enable an Unofficial Member to move the adjournment, in order to secure a debate on a "definite matter of urgent public imporlaped".

In the second line leave out the words who has obtained Phrase unrelated to any of the preceding Standing the right to do 10, Orders.

In the third line leave out the word "three" and insert in lieu | Longer notice the word "four".

In the fourth line after the word “question" add the words "provided that, with the permission of the President, valedic- tory speeches may be made without notice on the occasion of the retirement of a Member from the Council”,

needed of the subject of adjourn meat debates. This will bring the period of notice into line with that for notice of questions (3.0. 17(2) ) and motions (5,0. 21(1)).

So that valedictory speeches can be made not counting as part of the 30 minutes allowed for the adjournment debate.
