Explanatory Note.
(This Note is not part of the directions, but is intended
to indicate their general purport).
The purpose of these directions is-
(a) to enable the Chairman of the Chinese Temples, Committee to delegatz the duty of personally certifying all vouchers in respect of payments to be made from the General Chinese Charities Fund; and
(6) to bring the provisions relating to the maintenance and auditing of the Fund more closely into line with the corresponding provisions relating to other similar funds.

CHINESE TEMPLES FUND (Amendment) REGULATIONS, 1961.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Chinese Temples Ordinance, the Chinese Temples Committee has made the following regulations—
1. These regulations may be cited as the Chinese Temples Fund Cluation. (Amendment) Regulations. 1961.
2. Regulation 8 of the Chinese Temples Fund Regulations, 1954, Amendroent (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations) is amended by the regule- deletion of the full stop at the end thereof and the substitution therefor (GNA. of the following-

3. Regulations 10 and 11 of the principal regulations are revoked Revocation and replaced by the following regulation—

10. (1) The Chairman shall cause proper accounts to be kept of all transactions of the Fund and shall cause to be prepared for every period of twelve months coding on the 31st day of March in each year a statement of the accounts of the Fund, which statement shall include an income and expenditure account and balance sheet and shall be signed by the Chairman.
(2) The accounts of the Fund and the signed state- ment of the accounts shall be audited by an auditor appointed by the Governor, and the auditor shall certify the statement subject to such report, if any, as he may think fit.
(3) A copy of the signed and audited statement of accounts together with the auditor's report, if any, shall be laid on the Table of the Legislative Council not later than the 30th day of September next following the end of such period or so soon thereafter as the Governor, in his absolute discretion, may allow.".
