REGISTRATION OF PERSONS (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1961.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Registration of Persons Ordinance, 1960, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-

1. These regulations may be cited as the Registration of Persons Citation. (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1961.

Explanatory Note.

(This Note is not part of the regulations, but is intended

to indicate their general purport).

The purpose of this measure is—

(4) to enable the Chairman of the Chinese Temples Committee to delegat the duty of personally certifying all vouchers in respect of payments to be made from the Chinese Temples Fund; and

(b) to bring the provisions relating to the maintenance and auditing of the Fuad more closely into line with the corresponding provisions relating to other similar funds.

Explanatory Note.

The amendments to the Registration of Persons Regulations, 1960 (the phacipal regulations) made by these regulations have become necessary in con- sgococe of the establishment of the Tromigration Service.

2. The effect of the amendment made to regulation 17 of the principal radations by regulation 2 is to confer on the Director of Immigration and Dembers of the Intmigration Service authorized by bim the power to demand the surrender of identity cards formerly conferred on the Immigration Officer, deputy immigration officers and immigration control officers.

3. Regulation 3 revokes regulation 21 of the principal regulations. It considered that, if it should become necessary for members of the Immigration Srce to exercise the powers conferred by paragraph (2) or (3) of regulation 11 the principal regulations, the authonty to do so could be granted by the Commissioner of Police under the provisions of paragraph (2) of that regulation.
