steering wheel measured from the nearest point on the periphery of the steering wheel to the nearest part of the back of the driver's seat.

(3) In an omnibus the centre of the driver's seat shall not be off-set more than four inches in relation to the centre of the steering wheel and adequate comfort shall be provided for the driver.

(4) In an omnibus the driver's seat shall be adequately protected by guard rails or a partition providing adequate room for the driver and being not less than eighteen inches from the centre of the steering wheel at any point.

(5) Where passengers are carried on the left-hand side of the driver a space of at least eighteen inches from the centre of the steering column to the left thereof shall be reserved for the driver, to be divided off from such passengers by means of a solid partition at least nine inches high from seat level and extending for the whole depth of the seat.

73. Where an omnibus is fitted with a front glass windscreen for the driver an efficient automatic windscreen wiper shall be fitted.

74. (1) Every omnibus shall comply in all respects with the requirements as to the construction, weight and equipment of motor vehicles contained in Section I of this Part of these regula- tions which are applicable to the omnibus, and the omnibus including all body work, upholstery and fittings shall be soundly and properly constructed of suitable materials well finished and in good and serviceable condition and of such design that it is capable of withstanding the loads and stresses likely to be met with in operation.

(a) The provisions of this Section are in addition to and not in derogation of the provisions of Section 1 of this Part of these regulations.

78. There shall be carried in or upon every omnibus in such a position as to be readily available for use, suitable and efficient apparatus for extinguishing fire and such apparatus shall comply

with the requirements of the Fire Offices Committee (Foreign) of London and shall be of one or more of the under-mentioned types, namely-

Foan producing fire extinguisher;

Soda acid chemical fire extinguisher ;

Carbon tetra chloride fire extinguisher.

18. There shall be carried in or upon every omnibus in the First aid New Territories other than New Kowloon a suitable receptacle equipment. containing the first aid dressings and appliances specified bere- under and of the quality and standard hereunder prescribed, which shall at all times be maintained in good condition, namely

(d) one tourniquet;

(b) one tourniquet-stick, six inches long by half an inch in

diameter;

(c) one telescopic splint;

(d) one large sterilized dressing suitable for burns and wounds (not less than three inches by three inches): (e) three medium sterilized wound dressings (gauze and wool or lint and wool not less than two inches by two inches):

(/) one roll sterilized cotton wool (not less than half an

aunce).

77, In or upon every omnibus there shall be fitted an efficient Speedo- speedometer so placed as to be easily read by the driver of the meter. vehicle.

78. There shall be carried in or upon every omnibus in the Lifting New Territories excluding New Kowloon apparatus capable of jacks. raising any wheel fitted to the vehicle not less than six inches clear of the ground.

79. Every taxi shall be fitted with a taxi meter approved by Taxi meter. the Commissioner and at all times bearing the appropriate seal or mark affixed thereto by the Commissioner,

80. Each hand cart exceeding one ewt. in weight unladen Poeumatic shall be provided with efficient pneumatic tyres on all wheels and an efficient brake in good working order.
