Short title.

(a) officers and volunteers of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps were by proclamation, under section II of the Volunteer Ordinance, 1933, called out on actual military service on and after the 7th day of December, 1941;
(3) no provision had at the time of calling out been made to prescribe the entitlement to pay and allowances of the members of the said Force or of the officers and volunteers of the said Corps when called out as aforesaid and no such provision has been made subsequently;
(4) certain payments were in fact made of and allowances
pay to the members of the said Force and to the officers and volunteers of the said Corps when called out as aforesaid; and
(s) it is expedient that provision should be made to validate such payments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Volunteer and Naval Volunteer (Validation of Pay and Allowances) Ordinance, 1954.
4. In this Ordinance-
"Pay Code" means-
(a) in the case of members of the Hong Kong Naval Volun- teer Force, except members to whom paragraph (b) applies, and in the case of officers and volunteers of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, the British Pay Code and the Allowance Regulations applicable at the material dates to the Royal Navy and the Army;
(b) in the case of members of the Hong Kong Naval Volun- teer Force being ratings not entered as seamen gunners, the China Station Orders of the Commander-in-Chief and incorporated in the China Station Order Book as at the 25th day of December, 1941.
