Government House, Singapore, September 11, 1894.
I HAVE the honour to report that, in compliance with Your Lordship's instruc- tions conveyed in Despatch No. 113 of the 17th April last,* an Ordinance to further amend the Women and Girls' Protection Ordinance, 1888, was passed by the Governor, and Legislative Council of this Colony on the 6th instant, and numbered XII. of 1894. Copies of this enactment are enclosed.
2. Governor Sir Charles Mitchell, who is absent from the Colony, has not yet assented to this Ordinance, and has instructed me to report that he purposes to address Your Lordship on the subject on his return from Pahang.
3. Pending the receipt of his despatch, I would ask that no further action be
taken.

ORDINANCE No. XII. OF 1894.
An Ordinance to further amend "The Women and Girls' Protection Ordinance, 1888."
Governor and Commander-in-Chief.
[6th September, 1894.]
It is hereby enacted by the Governor of the Straits Settlements, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as "The Women and Girls' Protection Short title. Ordinance Amendment Ordinance 1894."
(2) "The Women and Girls' Protection Ordinance, 1888" is hereinafter referred Ordinance to as the principal Ordinance.
