Transmits copy of a Despatch inviting the Governors of the Australasian Colonies and the Cape of Good Hope to send delegates to a Con- ference to be held in Ottawa, on 21st June, for the discussion of trade relations and telegraphic com- munication.

Requests that the Secretary of State will appoint an interview with himself and the other Colonial re- presentatives named, for 'the pur- pose of discussing certain objects of common interest, and to urge the appointment of an Imperial repre- sentative at the forthcoming Con. ference.

States that Lord Ripon has been invited to discuss with certain of the Colonial agents various ques- tions bearing on the relations be- tween different portions of the Empire, but that before taking any steps he would be glad of the views of the Board of Trade and Foreign Office.
