His Britannic Majesty's Agency and Consulate, Tonga,
15th March, 1915. I HAVE the honour to forward herewith a cheque for the sum of £53 15s. 3d., representing further subscriptions from residents of Tonga to the National Relief Fund.
2. Of this amount the sum of £44 16s. Od. was handed to me in person by Tugi, the premier noble of Tonga and Governor of Vavau, accompanied by Uiliami Kalaniuvalu (Bule Kolo) and Vaeno (Matabule). It comprises donations from seven
in Tongatabu, the number of contributors being 218. villages
The amount of £7 8s. 9d., subscribed by the Wesleyan Mission, Vavau, was received through Mr. Robert Fletcher, Deputy Commissioner.
4. I enclose lists* accounting for the total sum of £53 15s. 3d.

WITH reference to my despatch of the 30th of March,* I have the honour to request you to express the thanks of His Majesty's Government for the further contribution to the Prince of Wales's National Relief Fund of £399 9s. subscribed by residents on Ocean Island, as reported in the Resident Commissioner's letter to you of the 23rd of February, No. 43.†
The Crown Agents for the Colonies have been instructed to pay the amount to the Fund.
2. I have to add, with reference to the second paragraph of the Resident Commissioner's letter, that the amount mentioned in his letter to you of the 18th of January was paid from Gilbert and Ellice Islands funds and not from High Commission funds.
