Belgian Relief Fund.
15th April, 1915.
THE attached cheque for £100 (one hundred pounds) has been handed to me by Mrs. H. H. Roget, of the Methodist Mission here, as a contribution towards the Belgian Relief Fund.
2. It is made payable to Mrs. Roget but endorsed, "Pay to the order of the Receiver-General, Suva."
3. The amount has been collected from residents here, about £28 or so, and from the natives, through various schemes put.through by Mr. and Mrs. Roget, which would represent the balance.
4. Mrs Roget asked me if I would forward the money to you and I agreed to do so, but at the same time I told her that I was unaware that the Treasury had list open for contributions to this fund.

5. I asked for the list of subscribers to be sent, but this has not been done, so the
sum might be entered as contributions of residents and natives of Rotuma to the Belgian Fund, collected by Mr. and Mrs. Roget.
6. I have not made any entry in the cash account of the receipt of this money.

WITH reference to your despatch No. 159, of 15th May,* I have the honour to inform you that I forwarded the sum of £100, representing the contributions of resi- dents and natives of Rotuma collected by Mr. and Mrs. Roget of the Methodist Mission for the relief of Belgian distress, to the National Committee for Relief in Belgium, who desire to express their gratitude for this generous support.
2. I have to explain that the "Belgian Relief Fund" mentioned in your despatch exists for the relief of Belgians in Belgium, and not for the relief of Belgians in the United Kingdom.

HAVE the honour to forward a draft for £100 payable to the Belgian Relief Fund, and to ask that it may be sent to the Secretary of the Fund in London for the relief of distressed Belgians in the United Kingdom.
2. I enclose a copy of a letter from the Resident Commissioner of Rotuma, which
explains the sources from which the money has been derived.
3. I shall be happy, if I am authorized to do so, to convey to the European resi- dents and natives of Rotuma the thanks of the organizers of the Belgian Relief Fund for the generous contribution made.

I HAVE the honour to forward a draft for £140, payable to the Lord Mayor
of London, which has been handed to me by the Belgian Relief Committee in Suva as a contribution to the Belgian Relief Fund.
2. I enclose a copy of correspondence on the subject with Mr. A. E. Barker, the Honorary Secretary of the Suva Belgian Relief Committee, and shall be much obliged if the draft may be sent to the Lord Mayor of London so that the amount may be added to the funds which have been raised for the relief of distressed Belgians.
