YOUR EXCELLENCY,
50
Enclosure 2 in No. 116.
92, Gordon Street, Suva, 8th June, 1915. REFERRING to your very kind offer to forward to the authorities in London any money we may raise for the Belgian Relief Fund, I have pleasure in reporting that we now have about £125 in hand, and would like the first instalment to go on by the next mail boat.
We would like to hand over to you whatever amount we may have in hand a few days before the sailing of the boat.
Would it be satisfactory to Your Excellency if we sent on the cheque to you on Monday next?
You are no doubt aware that a committee has recently been formed in London, with the Lord Mayor as Chairman and a member of the House of Commons as Treasurer, to administer the funds raised in the British Empire and to see that only those benefit that the money is intended for."
To His Excellency
The Governor.
SIR,
I have, &c.,
A. E. BARKER, Honorary Secretary, Belgian Relief Committee,
Suva.
