5. 8.0. Kelp."-The Committee approved Mr. Holt's action in instructing the managers to carry out the recommendations of the Salvage Association with regard to the sale of the hull and gear of this vessel.

7. s.s. “Senegambia."-Mr. Holt reported that this ship would finish her discharge immediately. Mr. Evans undertook to ascertain what decision had been come to by the Admiralty with regard to her sale.

8. 9.0. Clevedon." The Committee considered a letter from Messrs. J. Hardie and Company asking for instructions with regard to the claim of the Falmouth Towage Company, Limited, in respect of services rendered by their 8.8. "Victor" to this vessel. The Committee decided that a claim should be sub- mitted to some junior Admiralty counsel for arbitration, and that Messrs. Waltons and Company should be instructed to agree the terms of reference and the name of the arbitrator with the solicitors of the Towage Company.

9. 5.8. Seattle."-The Committee recommended that an affidavit should be obtained from the Falkland Islands with regard to the condition of the ship's boilers when she arrived in the Colony. Mr. Evans undertook to make inquiries as to the whereabouts of the logs for the voyage from the Falkland Islands to West Africa.
10. s.v. "Llandaff."-The Secretary reported that this ship was posted at Lloyd's as missing. Mr. Holt was instructed to arrange for the closing of the
accounts.
Macedonia"; (b) s.v. "Bellas." 11. Insurance of Ships and Cargoes.—(a) s.s. -The Secretary was instructed to ascertain from the Admiralty Marshal whether the equipment and stores of vessels insured under his fire cover were included in the value of the ship for the purpose of insurance.
12. 8.8. Polkerris.”—The Committee decided that the conditions of sale should be sent down to Messrs. Lachlan and Company without waiting to see whether arrangements for the admission of Italian buyers would be concluded.
Kankakee."-The Committee approved the payment to the Federal Steam Navigation Company of £8 78. 6d. for the expenses of the officers and engineers proceeding to Marseilles for this ship.

Apolda."-The Committee considered a letter from the Admiralty with regard to the payment to the Senior Naval Officer, Capetown, of £3,096 0s. 8d. by the Federal Steam Navigation Company for the stores on board these vessels, and agreed that they would be liable for the under- taking in respect of the stores, and that, in respect of the ships, they would accept liability for the undertaking so long as the ships remained under their management.

15. S.S. Verdala."-The Committee considered a letter which had been received by the Colonial Office from the Admiralty with regard to the apportion- objection ment of the freight for the logwood carried by this vessel. They had no to the procedure proposed in the letter, and the Secretary was instructed to inform the Secretary to the Admiralty Coasting Trade Office accordingly.

Carl."-Mr. Holt reported that this ship had put back to Falmouth after being out forty days. He undertook to ascertain if the Canadian Govern- ment would cancel her charter.
3. 8.0. Terpsichore."-The Committee approved the payment.to Messrs. R. Thomas and Company of £2,000 on account of their disbursements.
4. s.s. "Kankakee."-The Committee approved a payment to Messrs. I. and E. Frisch of £800 ou account of their disbursements, and also approved Mr. Holt's action in entrusting the ship's business in this country to the Admiralty Coasting Trade Office, Newcastle.
5. s.s." Senf gambia."-The Secretary reported that the Admiralty had con- curred in this ship being sold immediately. The Committee decided that Messrs. C. W. Kellock and Company should be entrusted with the sale and that the ship should be sold some time during the week beginning the 20th and ending the 26th of February.
8. 8.S. "C. Ferd Laeisz.”—Mr. Malkin reported that the French Prize Court had made an order for the division of the proceeds of this ship under the Joint Capture Convention.

Diyatalawa."-The Committee considered a letter from the India Office agreeing to this vessel being loaded homewards after her voyage to Port Said, provided she could be made available for loading in this country not later than the 31st March. Mr. Holt undertook to make arrangements for loading her with cotton seed from Egypt.

'Pindos."-Mr. Holt reported that this ship was waiting for a berth at Liverpool. The Secretary was instructed to offer the ship to the Transport Department and to ask them to expedite her discharge.
10. S.S. "Polkerris."-The Committee considered a letter from Messrs. B. Wadsworth and Sons, asking whether this ship would be free from requisition by the Government after the sale. The Secretary was directed to ask the Transport Department whether they would give a guarantee or allow a statement to be made to inquirers in this sense.

The Secretary was directed to inquire from the Admir- alty Coasting Trade Office whether they would be able to use this ship if she were requisitioned, and to ascertain from Malta whether there was any objection to the requisition, or whether the case could be brought on for hearing quickly.
