Downing Street, 3rd July, 1914. I AM directed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd ultimo,* enclosing an estimate received from Messrs. H. F. Angus & Company for the supply of lanterns with acetylene generators for use in the ankylostomiasis campaign.
I am to return the original enclosures to your letter and to refer to the letter from this Department of the 26th of June, respecting the authority which has been given to the Crown Agents for the Colonies to pay for the lanterns and to arrange for their shipment.
I am to request that you will order the spare parts indicated in the estimate, if you are satisfied that they are required, but, with regard to supplies of carbide, Mr. Harcourt will be obliged if you will consult the Crown Agents as to whether it is necessary or desirable to ship supplies from this country or to leave small orders to be placed locally.
