Subject.
Transmits a copy of a despatch to the Governors of certain West Indian islands relative to the visit of Mr Wickliffe Rose; states that Mr. Rose proposes to visit Egypt, Ceylon, and the Malay States in February; and trusts that all possible facilities will be given him.
States that Mr. Rose proposes to visit Egypt, Ceylon, and the Malay States in February; presumes that Sir E. Grey will be willing to do all in bis power to obtain facilities for Mr. Rose in Egypt; and inquires with whom he should be put in communication with a view to discussion of the arrange- ments for his tour in Egypt in the event of his visiting England on his way to that country.
Considers that the best way will be for Mr. Rose to enter into communica- tion with the member of the Com- mittee to be nominated by the Egyp tian Government.
States that at present it seems quite evident that he will be able to sail for Egypt, Ceylon, and the Malay States i in February; suggests that it might! be advisable for him to go by way of London in order to confer with the Advisory Committee; and requests that his way may be prepared in Egypt.

Mr. Rose has been invited to visit London for the purpose of conferring with the Committee; and requests to be informed as soon as possible what steps the Egyptian Government pro pose to take in anticipation of Mr. Rose's visit to Egypt.
Forwards a report by the Principal | 14
Civil Medical Officer on the preva- lence and distribution of ankylostomi- asis in Ceylon and the measures taken to cope with the disease, together with various other papers bearing on the subject.
Reports the visit of Mr. Rose to Anti- gua; encloses copies of the papers which were handed to him; makes observations on the views expressed therein; states that Mr. Rose has offered to provide funds for an investi. gation; and proposes to accept this offer.

of the estimates of the cost of the work in the three Colonies are being referred to the technical advisers; makes observations as to the proposal that Dr. Durrant should be placed in charge of the work in St. Vincent; agrees that all expenses for audit of Treasury remuneration in connexion with the work may be borne by local funds.
Encloses copies of the terms of reference 81
to the Colonial Office Medical Selec tion Committee and of their report on the question of selection of competent doctors to conduct the campaign against ankylostomiasis; proposes that this Committee should select officers as required; and asks how far the Commission would be prepared to pay expenses incurred in connexion with the Committee and travelling expenses of technical members and doctors.
States that the proposals in No. 10 are under consideration and will be dis- cussed with Mr. Rose on his arrival in England.
Forwards a copy of a despatch from Viscount Kitchener reporting the nomination of Lieut-Colonel Sir David Semple to be the representative of Egypt on the Ankylostomiasis Com- mittee.
Reports as to Mr. Rose's visit to the islands; encloses copies of correspond ence with him together with copies of despatches and minutes respecting the estimates of the cost of the campaign in each of the three Colonies; recommends the acceptance of Mr. Rose's offer to find funds for the clear- ance of the islands of ankylostomiasis and intestinal parasites for the next five years; and discusses the subject generally.
Communicates the names of the gentle 18
men who have consented to serve on the Ankylostomiasis Committee; sug. gests that the names be notified to the American Ambassador for communica- tion to the International Health Corn- mission, with the information that it is hoped to add a representative of the Egyptian Government shortly.
