Analysis of the data relating to breeding collected from female humpbacks by Major Barrett-Hamilton, at South Georgia :-

Average length of 11 fœtuses measured between 25th November, 1913, and 15th

January, 1914:-1 ft. 4 in. (approximate).

The genitals were examined in 22 cases...

Seventeen of these 22 whales were mature; their

lengths ranged from 42 to 52 ft.

Fifteen of the mature females were pregnant
