I SHOULD be glad if you could spare me a few minutes one day this week or early next week, as I have received a letter from the Colonial Secretary of the Gold Coast authorising me to ask you to get the lantern and all accessories for the lectures.
I expect to receive by this mail (due to-morrow) a series of negatives of the photographs I spoke to you about when I saw you last.

THE LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL to COLONIAL OFFICE. (Received March 29, 1906.)
London County Council, Education Offices,
Victoria Embankment, W.C., March 28, 1906. THE Council has had under consideration the circular despatch, dated 13th April, 1905,* and enclosure forwarded with your letter of 5th May, 1905,† for the delay in replying to which I am to express regret.
I am now directed to thank you for drawing the attention of the Council to the series of illustrated lectures dealt with in the despatch, and I am to say that, inasmuch as it appears that the use of the lectures and slides would involve considerable expense in the purchase of a copyright from the three Colonies who met the cost of the preparation of the lectures, and in adapting these to a new locality, the Council regrets that it is unable to take advantage of the proposals referred to.
I am, &c.,
H. J. MORDAUNT,

MY DEAR MACKINDER,
Downing Street, March 19, 1906. THERE can be no doubt that the Gold Coast must have a set of slides as well as Southern Nigeria. Will you order them?
As regards your other letter of the 14th, I have already suggested that you might depute someone to look at the collections of photographs in the library here. I think you will be able to obtain what you want from them to complete the slides for the Mauritius edition.
The Crown Agents have sent us a letter from the Trinidad Government asking for a set of slides and so many copies of the West Indian edition of the lectures, and I have sent them copies of our correspondence with Trinidad and told them to communicate with you.
Attached to 9032.
MY DEAR LUCAS,
