Intimates that the Department of the Interior is prepared to purchase sets of slides and copies of the book of lec- tures, and requests that the necessary action may be taken in the matter; states that the Assistant Superin- tendent of Emigration will be re- quested to communicate with Mr. Mackinder.

1907. Conveys Resolution of the Committee on Visual Instruction that they should be represented at the Federal Con- ference on Education, and suggesting that Mr. H. J. Mackinder would be a suitable delegate; asks that the wish of the Committee may be complied with.

March-15. States that an invitation has been sent to Mr. H. J. Mackinder to attend as the representative of the Committee on Visual Instruction at the Federal Conference on Education.

Submits proposal for raising a fund for Empire Education, and transmits copies of letters on the subject pub- lished in "The Times" ; requests support to the scheme and an inter- view to explain the matter in detail. States, in reply to No. 134, that the subject has already received careful attention by a Committee working under the auspices of the Colonial Office, that no special support can be given to Mr. Stoneham's movement as distinguished from other Associ- ations having similar objects, and that, therefore, there is no occasion for an interview.

Requests to be put into communication with the Committee referred to, with a view to avoid clashing with work already being carried out.
