may have been duly published in the Colony :
(8.) The Power, as often as the Governor is by Commission appointed to be Captain General or Commander-in-Chief of the Colony, but not in any other Case, of dismissing and disbanding by Proclama- tion, in the Name of Her Majesty, and also (subject to any Law which from Time to Time may be in force in the Colony) of calling out by like Procla- mation any armed Force employed within the Colony, under Authority of the Legislature thereof; and no Appoint- ment of any Officer in any Force so em- ployed, nor any Regulation respecting the Conduct or Discipline thereof, shall be valid unless such Appointment shall be made or such Regulation made or approved in Writing under the Hand of the Governor.
7. The Governor of every Crown Colony shall (subject as herein-before mentioned) possess the following Powers:
(1.) The Power of keeping and using the public

(2.) The Power, by Writing under his Hand, or
in such other Form as may be provided
his Instructions or by the Law of the Colony, of appointing provisionally all Officers who may lawfully be ap pointed by Her Majesty, and of sus- pending from the Exercise of their respective Offices all Persons holding such Offices during Her Majesty's Pleasure; provided that Iler Majesty, through One of Her Principal Secrc- taries of State, may disallow and cancel any such Appointment or Suspension, and may make such Provision as under the Circumstances may seem fit re- specting the Salary accruing during

such temporary Appointment or Suspen. sion to the Officers affected thereby :
(3.) The Power, in the Name and on behalf of Her Majesty, of granting to any Offender convicted of any Crime or Misde- meanor in any Court of Justice, or before any Judge or Magistrate within the Colony, a Pardon, either free or subject to such Conditions us may by Law be annexed to such Pardon, and also of respiting the Execution of the Sentence on any such Offender for such Period as to the Governor may seem fit, and also of remitting the whole or any Part of the Punishment to which any such Offender may be sentenced, and also of substituting for any such Punish- ment, if Capital, any other Punishment which by the Law of the Colony might have been imposed for the same or any less Offence, and also of remitting any Fines, Penalties, or Forfeitures whereof the Proceeds may be payable to the Use of Her Majesty or of the Colonial Treasury:
(4.) The Power, in the Name and on behalf of Her Majesty, of giving the Royal Assent to any Law passed by the Legis- lative Body (if any) established in the Colony, or of withholding such Assent therefrom:
(5.) The Power, by Writing under his Hand, of convening and proroguing any such Legislative Body, and of presiding at every Meeting thereof, and of adjourn- ing every such Meeting, and by such Writing as aforesaid of nominating a Member of any such Body to preside at any such Meeting during his Absence therefrom:
(6.) The Power, with the Advice of his Exe- cutive Council, and subject to the Laws of the Colony, of granting or disposing (0,52.).
