Reports on the working of the Currency Commissioners' Department since the passing of Ordinance 1 of 1906, and as to the policy to be pursued in regard to the issue of notes against gold, and the maintenance of the reserve of silver.

Describes their arrangements with the India Office with regard to the ship- ment of sovereigns from Australia to London, and asks whether similar procedure could be followed in the case of shipments to the Straits.

Transmite copy of No. 130, and asks for information regarding the Indian arrangement therein referred to; and requests information as to the arrangements made by the Indian Government whereby the silver re- serve is not allowed to sink below one-third of the note issue.

Telegram (Rec. June 15)| Submits observations on the excessive amount of gold held by the Currency Commissioners, and trusts that an Order in Council will soon be passed making gold legal tender.

Reports that he is advised that the Ordere in Council passed under the Foreign Coin Prohibition Ordinance, 1891, are no longer valid and submits fresh drafts: calls attention to the question of prohibiting the circulation of British North Borneo copper coin.

Approves generally the Orders submitted în No. 135; and conveys iustructions for dealing with British North Borneo copper coins.
