Respecting the payment, by the Company, of 1,000/. rent for the Labuan mines, the obli- gations imposed on the Company, and the extravagant demand made upon them for Police supervision and Hospital ..

Stating that he has received a letter from Mr. Lindsay on the subject of the Lubuan collieries, which is incorrect as regards the non-payment by the Government of chargen for the use of lighters..

Referring to letter which they have received from the Company praying that the payment of rent due by them may be postponed for two years, and adverting to certain complaints made by the Company against the Local Government

Transmitting copies of two letters from the Company, in which they complain that their interests have been affected by his adminis tration of the Government of Labuan, and informing him that these letters have been referred to Governor Bulwer

Acquainting him that his letter of the 27th July has received careful consideration; that the payment of rent by the Coal Company will be postponed until the 24th of June, 1874, on condition of their paying a royalty of 6d. a ton during that period, and request- ing to be informed whether or not, the Company agree to this arrangement

Transmitting copy of letter which has been addressed to the Coal Company, permitting them to work the mines until the 24th of June, 1874, rent free, on condition of their paying a royalty of 6. a ton upon all coal raised during that period
