Copied to Foreign Office No. 184 Copied to Hongkong No. 60

1 HSING KUO LU,

PEKING.

8lat October 1950.

65

You will recall that on 29th April His Majesty's Charge d'Affaires addressed a letter (No. 24) to His Excellency the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the subject of a number of former Kuomintang soldiers in Hongkong whom it was desired to repatriate with their dependents to their homes in China, and that on 20th June you informed me orally that no decision had yet been reached by the Chinese Government in this matter.

Although several months have elapsed, the difficulties referred to in Mr. Hutchison's letter continue. I should accordingly be grate- ful if you could give me some indication, for Mr. Hutchison's information, of the views of the Chinese Government in regard to this question.

(H.D. Bryan)

Mr. Yao Chou-chieh,

West European and African Department,

Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

PEKING.
