"Assistant Registrar" means an officer appointed as an

Assistant Registrar of Societies for the Colony.

3. The Governor may appoint by name or office an officer to

be Registrar of Societies for the Colony, and officers to be styled

Assistant Registrars of Societies.

4. (1) Every society shall in mannor prescribed make application

to the Registrar for registration.

(2) The Registrar may order that any society shall be

registered or be exempted from registration under this Ordinance.

(3) If a society has not been exempted the Registrar shall not refuse to register a society under this Ordinance unless:

(a) such society is affiliated or connected with any organisation or group of a political nature which is established outside the Colony, in such a manner as to place such society in any way or in any matter under the control of such organisation or group; or

(b) such society is likely to be used for unlawful purposes or for purposes prejudicial to public peace or welfare or to good order in the Colony.

(4) Any person aggrieved by a refusal by the Registrar to

register a society may appeal against that decision to the Governor

in Council whose decision shall be final.

5. (1) If the Registrar has reason to believe that any

registered or exempted society has ceased to exist, he may publish

exist,

in the Gazette a notification calling upon such society to furnish

him with proof of its existence within three months from the date of

such notification.

(2) If at the expiration of such three months the Registrar

is satisfied that the society has ceased to exist, a notification to

that effect shall be published in the Gazette, and the society shall

be deemed to have ceased to exist from the date of such publication.

6. The Registrar may at any time order any exempted society to

furnish him with information prescribed.

7. The Registrar may at any time order any registered society

to furnish him with such information as he thinks fit.

8. (1) The obligations imposed upon societies by sections 6 and

7 shall be deemed to be personal obligations upon the president and

seeritury and upon all embers of the or ttee of every such society, or, if such offices do not exist, then upon all persons holding
