clerk's security was $200. The man's security is $500.
Since the appointment of this new clerk, the amount of
security is $500, and I should like to add also that I
myself am under security for $1,000, and that if
anything went wrong with the money in the safe, I should
be held responsible.
Page 1759, my answer to the Chairman's question "have
you got a regular accountant in the Department” is "No
regular accountant". I should like to add to that "
beyond my regular Chinese olerk", because that man
spends the whole of his time in connection with the
