A.

Has this been amended in any respect since you handed

these copies to us, since the Commission sat ?

They have not been amended so far as I am aware,

There is one point I want to ask you about. What 14.980

happens to the surplus stores old damaged surplus

atores - do the Sanitary Board ever sell them ?

Just very recently I have written to the Government in

connection with empty barrels.

That is what I have in my mind. What happens to the 14981

empty barrels ?

First of all I fill up two forms form Y - they are

Bent up under cover of a letter and authority is

obtained to sell these stores, and if they are of

value they are sold by Public Auction. Supposing they

are not of much value, they are generally sold by gett-

ing the best tender. These barrels - they are not valuable, and it would not pay to have them auctioned.

A.

They are disposed of by tender.

83 Q.

Do you consider that that is a cheaper way -

14.983 disposing

of them by tender, than by Public Auction ?

A.

Yes, if the amount of stores only comes to about $15

or $20.

How long ago ↑

Quite recently within the last fortnight.

Did you advertise for tenders for these ?

No. I got the authority of the Government to dispone of

them by tender.

By private contract, do you mean, or by tender ? 14.987

I send round to half a dozen mɑn or so and ask them.
