It seems to me that it meets the enue. It clears a 14,8

misunderstanding which appears to have arisen.

Yes, I am quite satisfied with that.

It shall have to be referred to in the report, if tut

word stands in. I am quite prepared to stand by wh

said. I am not a chemist and know nothing about.

chemistry, but the most important point in my mind waLES

that one of the objections raised to Clayton's

Disinfector was that you had to hermetically seal a

building, and after the instrument was ordered from

Ingland, on Dr Pearse's recommandation, it was stopped,

and I think I am right in saying that, and at any rate

from a document I have seen on this Commission, and I

have seen a reply which has reached the Colony this

autumn, since the Commission has sat, in which they

answer that question about hæmetically sealing, and

giving me a reason why it is not necessary to

hermetically seal it, is on account of the specific

gravity of sulphur dioxide.

You speak of the Disinfector as being ordered from home

on my recommendation. I dont think any Clayton

apparatus over ms ordered on my recommendation.

r Shelton Hooper:- (explained that that was not what he meant - that he

meant that on Dr Pearse's recommendation, it wa

stopped).

itness:-

I am not sure that that is quits right, There was an

apparatus to be supplied by Defries » a spray machine.

I recommended that to be stopped, and they stopped it

by telegram. I dont remember any Clayton apparatus from

home being stopped. I certainly recommended the

Government not to buy that steam spray machine,
