might make. Your original answer stands but if it is abso-
-lutely incorrect you have the power to alter it at the next
meeting.
:-- That is what I intended to do. The answer was a directly
opposite one. The question was a very long one and my idea
in altering the answer was because otherwise the following
evidence is contradictory.

The only idea I had in wishing to alter then was to give the
Commission a better idea of the matter.
All that we understand. We don't wish to impute any motive
to you. In a Court of Law you would not be allowed to do so
and if you were cross examined you would find yourself in
very great difficulties if you wished to correct your
answers in that way My idea was to go on with the examina-
-tion of Mr Woodcock with regard to the Standing Orders but
I think if he wishes to make various corrections we had
better take that first. It is open to you Hr Woodcock to
point out what corrections you wish to make.
