prevailed so that discerning readers received Allied pro- paganda between the lines of the paper, e.g. I draw atten- tion to the following samples:-

whenever the opportunity arose, the Wah Kiu Yat Po would not fail to badly publish or put in between the lines news of allied successes obtained either from a short wave radio concealed in the building adjacent to the wah Kiu Yat Fo offices or from the Macau wah Kiu Yat Po which I had smuggled into the Colony and the following are excerpts from my paper:- (A) Leader entitled "Sea Battles on the Northern and Southern Pacific Areas" appeared on 2.8.1942.

"From information available, it is now able to confirm our prediction that the United Nations would engage in coun- ter-activities against Japan in Asia. According to a broad- cast speech by the Director of the Information Section of Tokyo Military Headquarters, the American and British Forces, as their rirst attempt at launching a major counter offensive in Asia, will utilise the Chungking bases to attack the Japanese Mainland. Their air attacks recently on Wake Island were subjected to stiff Japanese resistance."

Recently a United Nations Angle-American Naval Fleet moved northward from Australian Waters as part of their strategy of counter-offensives, but was quickly discovered by the Japanese, and a heavy sea battle has been developing since August 7th. The United Nations' attempt at throwing all their available resources in organizing their counter offen- sive can be shown by the fact that their naval fleet now engaged in sea battle with the Japanese consists of over

cruisers, seven destroyers and many transports, which is the biggest ever seen before in a single sea battle against the Japanese. Meanwhile, another strong anglo- American force has commenced operations in the Aleutian area with Kiska as their object of attack, which seems to be part of their full scale offensive. But according to the latest radio messages their attempt in this direction has failed. However, it is very apparent that the United Nations are making serious attempts to deal a decisive blow at the weakest spot or the Axis Powers.
