(1) The United Nations are mobilizing all their available forces against the Japanese in the Northern and Southern Pacific areas. Their combined naval units in the Solomon Sea are even stronger than those of the Japanese in the same area; (2) their present naval move is obviously inspired by a high hope and is part of their global strategy probably preliminary to the opening of a second war front. As a rule, "Master of the Seas is master of the world". That group of nations that can achieve victory in the seas will surely achieve final victory in their world war. Viewed from recent sea battles in the Solomon and Aleutian areas, it will not be difficult to predict who will come out as queen of the seas.

(B) Leader entitled "Anglo-American Strategy" appeared on 18.11.1942.

"The landing of Anglo-American forces in Northern Africa is the biggest in scale compared to their previous landings in other theatres, which leads us to believe that their object is not limited to mere "diversion camouflage" x x 'The opening of a new front in Northern Africa is preliminary to the opening of a second front in western Europe." (c) Leader entitled "Woe to those who sell their fatherland" appeared on 28.12.1942.

"This article comments on the murder of Admiral Darlan, leader of the bogus regime in France, and is also written with the intention of indirectly warning Wang Ching-wei. To quote one of the paragraphs of this article: "Those who attempt to sell their fatherland to the enemy in exchange for personal gain should take heed of the murder of Admiral Darlan as the inescapable consequence. X X X There are some people who think that Darlan might have the recovery of France's freedom and independence as his final object, though his means towards this object might not necessarily be correct or wise. While we dare not share this opinion, future historians will surely give his case a fair verdict”. (D) Leader entitled "The Situation in India and Burma and the Allies' Offensives" appeared on 15.2.1943. "The offensive against Burma is naturally the first step of the Allies in starting a series of offensives on land in co-operation with their naval operations in N.W. Guinea and Solomon Island. To quote the English newspaper "Times" published in Chungking, the Allies consider it very urgent to re-open the Burma- Yunan Highway because Chungking is in need of aeroplanes, ammunition and other supplies whereby to equip their armies. Chungking realises that the reopening of the Burma-Yunan highway is the really effective measure in securing the final defeat of Japan. Roosevelt and Churchill have said that the Allies will develop major offensives against the Axis in 1945. As a result of the Casa Blanca Conference, the Anglo-American staff have decided on the outline of the war-operation programme for 1943, in which much importance is attached to the European theatre, while Asia is placed in the secondary category. However, they still consider that the importance of the Asiatic theatre because Japan is comparable in strength to Germany. This can be proved by a speech recently delivered by Roosevelt stressing the necessity of recovering all islands in the Pacific. Roose- velt also stressed the importance of launching air offen- sive against Japan from bases in China. "Judging by recent events, important Military developments are expected in the near future in Burma, Pacific Ocean and the European front." (E) On 26.2.1943, a Leader entitled "Advices to Overseas Chinese" appeared in the Wah Kiu Yat Po hinting to all over- seas Chinese in Hong Kong and abroad that their position will be gradually untenable whilst the war was in progress, and urged them to return to their fatherland where their co- operation was needed in national reconstruction.
